Raphael House Fair 2021

Clare Goodman —

Kia ora e te whānau o Raphael House The annual school fair is the major fundraising event for our kura. It’s a unique opportunity to come together as a community, work and play together, whatever your age; to learn some new skills, create some new connections, and to show off Waldorf education and our amazing learning environment to the wider community.

Everyone, what you can do right now:

  • Put Sunday 14 November 2021 in your calendar (also Sat 13 Nov for set up – make it a FAMILY-SCHOOL weekend extravaganza!)
  • Save clothes & books for the second-hand clothes stall
  • Sow seeds for the plant stall
  • Offer raffle donations for this ridiculously easy way to boost the school’s funds (and help promote your business)
  • Consider whether you’d like to hold a stall this year. Discounts for student stalls. No commissions apply. Contact Victoria Grouden (mikeandvic@shala.nz)

Your classes each have a Fair Representative to support your class’s contributions. Thank you for enthusiastically supporting our school fair.

Each year we get to experience a different way of supporting the Steiner Fair, whether that is crafting or food themes, candle technology or physical games.

When we all do a little, no-one must do a lot. Start now and there’s so much less to do later!

Fair Reps, please email Sarah Best NOW to let me know what help you are looking for and I’ll send you access to previous years’ hints & tips for your class fair activities – rhschoolfaircommittee@gmail.com or text on 021 1174 899.

Thank you to all who contributed to our 2020 Fair survey and attended the Fair feedback meeting. Please keep your ideas coming that support the ethos of our Annual Steiner School Fair.

Your Fair Committee is here to guide the overall adventure!

Karen Thrumble, Tim Webster, Victoria Grouden, Sarah Best with support from Jamie Houston, Tracey Buick & Francis Gallop.

Everyone, we’d love some people to help with specific roles to make this year’s fair even better than last year.

Do you have the skills and a little spare time to do the following (these could replace your class or on-the-day contributions):

  • Raffle coordination (could start now and make lighter work – work as a team with friends?
  • Billboard placement and collection (month before the fair and the following week)
  • Flower arrangements (the weekend of the fair)
  • Publicity support (work with resident marketing guru, Jamie Houston – you may learn heaps!)
  • Anything else you could offer…?

Thank you for all you do to support our tamariki (children), our rangatahi (young adults), kaiako (teachers), mātua (parents) and the very special place our kura (school) is.
