Feeling hot, hot, hot!

Irene Cheung —

As part of their outdoor classroom programme, Class 7 have been whittling bamboo sticks to make fire bows.   Using sharp blades, the ākonga have been shaping and smoothing out the bamboo to make the ideal stick, holes are then drilled into the stick, with a cord threaded though.  Once these are created, they are the perfect tool for fire-making, or at least to get some smoke after a minute or so of sawing with it against a stick.
