PTFA Annual Barn Dance

Clare Goodman —

Grab your kids, get on your dancing shoes – it’s almost time for the Raphael House Barn Dance! (YEEEEEEEE HAH!!)

In preparation for the Barn Dance the PTFA is asking our wonderful community to:

1) make delicious food and lemonade:

  • Large trays of fruit crumbles (apple, berry, pear, whatever!)
  • Pre-cooked vegetable patties: one batch of patties is around 25-30 and can be made of vegetables such as chickpeas, pumpkin, potato, kumara… If you are able to make gluten free or dairy free (clearly labelled as such) the PTFA would be very appreciative
  • Handmade lemonade
  • Trays of pre-cooked onions

If you can offer any of the above, please:

  • email Karen Thrumble,karen.thrumble@gmail.com and let her know what you can offer
  • Or write in google doc - link below.
  • Drop food and beverages off to the Barn Dance venue on the day of the Barn Dance itself.
  • Note all your yummy homemade food will be re-heated before being available to buy at the Barn Dance. Beverages will also be for sale to quench your thirst from all your dancing! And, there will be sausages and more sausages available to buy.

2) supply props, like:

  • quirky, funky lamps for the tables (and/or standing lamps); and/or
  • country-style decor/set dressing, like:
    • cart wheels,
    • old saddles,
    • lassos, cool rope
    • old fence section
    • any "country/western" decor you can think of to make the Maungaraki Community Hall look like a barn suitable to dance the evening away in!

If you can offer physical items and props, please:

    • email Tim Webster at webstaa@hotmail.comand let Tim know what you can provide
    • or write in doc below.
    • Items can come directly to the Barn Dance or be delivered to the Lower Office the week before the Dance; will be stored in the School Garage and brought up to the Maungaraki Community Hall for the event.
    • Items can be collected immediately after the Barn Dance is finished or will be stored in the School Garage for you to collect.

We’re also looking for anyone who can help on the night heating, carrying trays from the kitchen and serving the food / drinks; gives you a chance to catch your breath during the dancing!

And if you can help out with pack down or any of the above, please.

All offers and contributions will be very gratefully received and will help make it an event to remember! Thanks heaps community!!

Looking forward to a fabulous evening of community, music and dancing with you all! Don’t forget to bring along some coins in your back pocket for delicious food and beverages.

And, remember there will be prizes for the best dressed Barn Dancers!

Note: this year's Barn Dance is at the earlier start time of 3.30 PM, Saturday 28 August 2021 at the Maungaraki Community Hall.

Remember to buy your tickets from Marcelly’s office at the bottom of the driveway. They are going dirt cheap at $2 per person!

Ngā mihi nui,

Your PTFA Committee
