The Twinkle Foundation

Kathleen Russell —

On Saturday 16 March to Sunday 17 March the Twinkle Foundation held its second wānanga (workshop) up at the school.

Raphael House generously hosted us again, and we are so grateful to use this beautiful space. The sun was shining, and 50 students came together to build our community from the babies up, bringing Suzuki babies, toddlers and instrumentalists together. Students and tutors came from Tāmaki Makaurau, Ōtautahi and Ōtepoti to join us.

The two days consisted of community singing, yoga, baby & toddler music class, enrichment, pre-twinkler and repertoire class, instrument class, chamber music and string ensemble. This year the instrument faculty included Lynette Carson, Emma Dann, Ella George, Emma Goodbehere and Ahna Jensen. Our teenage helpers, Michael Chapple, Sophie Madgwick, Rosa Vincent and Olly Wilkison, supported the tutors in class. Sara from Seedling Yoga took the Yoga classes and Inbal Megiddo performed at the Saturday concert (an audience friendly, short low-pressure concert) along with the tutors and helpers.

We look forward to putting on this event again next year and would like to thank the Raphael House community for having us.

The Twinkle Foundation - is a collective of Suzuki ECE teachers who offer low-cost community events for Suzuki whānau and professional development for Suzuki ECE teachers.
