You may have noticed, when you come into the Eurythmy Room, the beautiful carving that hangs above the entrance.

This carved figure is Awanuiarangi, who is the ancestor of our local iwi Te Ati Awa.

Awanuiarangi is recognised as the founding ancestor of Te Āti Awa. According to Te Āti Awa traditions, he was the product of a union between Rongoueroa and Tamarau, a spirit ancestor. Class 11 Craft/Design elective group recently used this carving as inspiration in their motif designs for screen-printing.  The hope is these screen printed panels that they have created will be incorporated back into our kapahaka uniforms.
