Climate Strike for Students

Karyn Gray —

You may be aware via your tamariki and the media that the School Strike 4 Climate (SS4C) will take place next Friday March 3.

Care for our environment is a very important part of our Steiner curriculum and indeed the New Zealand Curriculum. Students learn about all aspects of nature and are encouraged to discuss environmental issues and participate in social action in an age-appropriate way.

For this reason, we have decided that students who attend the protest event on Friday will be recorded as being justifiably absent from school, providing their parents have advised the school that they will be off school to attend this event.

To ensure clear communication, should you wish your rangatahi to attend the SS4C event please send a message through HERO saying they will be absent next Friday for the climate change.

Parents and students are invited to make their own choice on whether they take part in this action.

Please note that while the school supports this action we are not responsible for students who are off site attending the event.

Two of our student leaders- Frankie and Abi- are coordinating this event and the students can approach them for any further information.  Frankie and Abi will be coordinating some sign making at lunchtime breaks next week.
