Upper School Camps Update

Karyn Gray —

(Also emailed to all US parents).

As you will all recall camps in Term 1 2022 were postponed with the hope that they would be able to progress later in the year.

Class 8 and Class 12 camps were already planned in Term 4, and we are certainly progressing with the planning of these camps at the moment on the assumption we will be able to proceed with them.

At the moment planning is being done towards the postponed camps for Classes 9, 10 and 11 being held, modified, if necessary, in Term 3 or 4 this year.

The camps for Class 10 and 11 are being planned for Week 7 of Term 4 after NZCSE requirements are completed. This will interrupt the usual time allowed for Work Experience and Community Service which will therefore be modified. These trips are being planned for Whanganui River (Class 10) and Abel Tasman (Class 11) as would be usual.

The Class 9 camp has been brought earlier in the year and is likely to go ahead in mid- Term 3. This camp has historically been a tramp through Tongariro National Park, and this year will become a skiing camp on Mt Ruapehu.

Kaiarataki teachers of each class will be in contact with you about their class camp over the rest of this term in order to start preparations.

More information about LS camps will be shared soon.
