Libby was a full-time member of Raphael House Kindergarten until the last term of 2018. She arrived as a little kitten in the early 2000's and was a kindergarten member longer than many of the other staff, until she finally retired at the end of Term 4 in 2018. Libby was then named “Chief Mouser” a position that was devotedly observed since she was a young pussy cat. But she had to carry many more responsibilities in her daily rounds… she was the warmth tester of any surface of every corner of all three rooms.

Libby was a great role model when it came to rest, and a good helper to remind us to be as quiet as we could be during story time, although very often she fell asleep before the story was over! Libby was also a wonderful resource when it came to caring for our sense of touch. Everyone loved patting and stroking her. Children can always find the good, beauty and what is true and they could find all three in her! Libby was a wonderful and patient member of the kindergarten and over the years, we witnessed the love that children poured over her in return. She was covered, quite literally, with signs of affection, showered with love, hugs and kisses… so much so that sometimes it was really hard to find her under all the muslins.

We looked after Libby as well, every morning she came into the room to find her bowl full of biscuits and another bowl full of fresh water. So it was not a surprise that she wanted to say “thank you” for the food, all the love and the warm cosy places to rest her head and whiskers in her own pussy cat way, one day bringing a little mouse for us to make friends…

Sadly, last Saturday Libby finished her earthly journey and went back to look after us from the heavens above. We are so grateful for all the love we received from her. She will be forever in our hearts.
