Queen Elizabeth Park Event

  • location: Queen Elizabeth Park - Mackays Crossing Entrance

  • Duration: 2.5 hours

  • Cost: Free event - Bookings required

Bring your team of four to Queen Elizabeth Park for a treasure hunt! You’ll need to work together to crack codes and find boxes. You’ll explore tracks through dunes, alongside freshwater streams, and into regenerating bush. How many challenges can you complete?  

All aboard! Wellington Tramway Museum will provide free trips on the heritage tram to help you hunt the park for clues. 

This treasure hunt is for all ages, including kids, teenagers and adults. Each team must include at least one participant over 14 years old. 

This event is created and delivered by the family adventure experts Everyone Out.  

Book your place and let the hunt begin! You can enter a team of 2 to 4 members.    

Please note:  

  • Please bring snacks and water bottles for your team. 

  • Please bring a pen or pencil to complete the treasure hunt.  

  • Dress in weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear. Be prepared for a hot day with sun protection, or a wet day with waterproof and windproof layers.   

Timetable: 

1:30pm – Registration at the Whareroa Beach carpark of Queen Elizabeth Park. Use the Mackay’s Crossing entrance if driving.  

1:55pm – Your challenge briefing. 

2:00pm – Start your treasure hunt! 

4:00pm – Finish your hunt and sign out. 

4:15pm – Prizegiving!   

This event begins at the Whareroa Beach carpark of Queen Elizabeth Park. You can ride a bike there from the Paekākāriki or Raumati sides of the park (Te Ara o Whareroa Trail is a sealed track for walking and cycling). If driving, use the Mackay’s Crossing entrance off SH1.

This treasure hunt is for all ages, including kids, teenagers and adults. Each team must include at least one participant over 14 years old. 

This event is created and delivered by the family adventure experts Everyone Out.

You can park at the main entrance of Wainuiomata Regional Park if driving. Or take Metlink route 170 from Lower Hutt to Wainuiomata South – Hine Road.
