Raphael House: Connections and reflections as a staff

Irene Cheung —

During our faculty hui this week, kaiako engaged in some Michaelmas activities to reflect and connect with this time of the year.

One group of kaiako, lead by Vanya, took a walk up Wairere Stream.  Despite the rain, kaiako were dressed for a hearty meander through the bush, taking moments to listen and observe nature around them.

Another group of kaiako harvested and sorted the seeds from our school garden and from Nina's (our Gardening and Eurythmy kaiako) own garden.  The citrusy goodness of lemon verbena leaves soon permeated the air as kaiako worked through branches, stems and seed pods of plants. Ākonga from different classes in the Lower School will also be doing this activity during their gardening sessions over the next couple of weeks.
