The Lower School Pentecost Festival
White doves, one thousand cranes, voices speaking in eleven different languages, singing, candles. This was our Pentecost Festival!
On Wednesday, the Lower School celebrated their Pentecost Festival.
At 9.15am, we gathered in the Eurythmy Room. Twelve Class Seven students entered, carrying candles. They lit the centre candle and then joined the rest of the Lower School. Together, we sang several songs and then stood to speak the Gospel according to St. John, chapter 1, verses 1-5 in English, New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) and Te Reo Maori. It was very powerful.
Following this, we heard the same verse spoken in seven different languages - German (Nina), Portuguese (Marcelly), Jessie (Mandarin), Fabiana (Spanish), Ynte (Dutch), Gil (Hebrew) and Dorothea (Afrikaans). Thank you so much to you wonderful people for sharing your language with us. It was the highlight of the Festival!
Class Seven played us a gorgeous piece on a variety of recorders and then the teachers sang for the Lower School akonga.
What a beautiful way to celebrate the end of Easter.
