Class 8 MSL visit.

Kathleen Russell —

Class 8 went to the Measurement Standard Laboratories. We went into three of the different labs: time, temperature, dimension labs.

In the time lab we learnt about atomic clocks and frequencies, and by sharing the time of other countries they found out that the world is slowing down. We also meet the guy who changes the time for all of New Zealand.

In the temperature lab we learnt about kelvin which is a way of measuring temperature where zero is when everything is so frozen that nothing is moving and we used special cameras that show you heat.

In the dimension lab we used special equipment to measure the height, diameter and circumference of different objects.
