Class 10 EOTC Days

Clare Goodman —

Class 10 spent three great days taking part in different outdoor activities.

The first day was spent biking over the Remutaka Rail Trail where the highlights for the students were riding through the tunnels and speeding down the long hill. The weather was cool and cloudy which meant no one overheated on the climb to the summit. The ice blocks at the carpark were a surprise treat – thank you Karen Gault!

The second day was spent walking, floating and swimming down the Akatarawa River behind Upper Hutt. For some, this was the highlight of the week. Some of the best moments were bumping down the rapids and jumping off the cliffs into deep pools. We were surprised to meet Class 11 who had changed their plans and were hanging out on the banks of the river as we neared the end of our river exploration.

On the third day we hiked up the hills behind Days Bay and spent the afternoon hanging out at the beach. The highlight of this day was eating pizza at the beach, jumping off the wharf and playing football on the big grass field.

Everyone agreed that it was a great way to spend these days together outside. Thank you to all the parents and extra adults that made it possible!
