Farewell from Christiaan Van Der Zee
It is quite a challenge trying to sum up the past three years at Raphael House in a few sentences.
What a ride.
I found my way to Raphael House at a time where I was wondering if teaching was the way forward, and I leave knowing that it is.
I suppose the best place to start, is to say thank you. First of all, thank you to the students: I have been challenged; I experienced success; at times I got things completely wrong; there were many moments of pure joy. In summary, it has been an incredibly rich journey which left me wanting to learn and be a better teacher.
To my colleagues: So many passing conversations. When I think about my colleagues, there was not a single one that I didn’t learn something from. I appreciated all the passing conversations, and the depth of care for the students that these conversations revealed. The mentorship I have received from Grant, Tim and Merlin has meant the world to me. Thank you for your wisdom, encouragement and support.
Whilst I will miss this special place as I continue
my journey elsewhere, the connection is there to stay.
Chris
