Part time Library Assistant role (two hours per week, term time - fixed term)

Are you looking for some part time work - then read on!

The Proprietor's Trust is looking for a new Library Assistant to manage the community library. The purpose of the Library Assistant is to have oversight, care and management of the Parent/Community Library in the Heide Werth room at Raphael House and to foster community learning and connectivity at Raphael House. This is a paid position.


It is expected that one hour of this position is set each week to host the community hour. The other hour can be worked to suit the position holder to ensure the library is managed and maintained as needed.

Responsibilities

Library

· Setting up/rearranging the library in the Heide Werth room so that it's a welcoming space and books are easy to access and navigate.

· Work with the Principal/teachers to arrange to display class artwork on the walls.

· Working with the Property Team to assess what new furniture is required for this space and to purchase this (within a set budget).

· Maintain books and repair/replace as required.

· Purchase new Waldolf educational books if requested from the community/recommended (within a set budget).

· Follow up books that are not returned.

Community learning

· Book the Heide Werth room for Friday afternoons (via the school office) to ensure it’s free each week.

· Host a weekly community hour at the library (Friday 2.30 - 3.30) to encourage people to come and borrow books and enjoy each other's company.

· Ensure the room is well equipped and set up each week as an inviting space for the community.

· Set up tea and coffee each Friday for the community to come together to borrow books and engage with each other.

Communications

· Promote the library and community hour in the Bush Telegraph regularly

· Promote the library and community hour to class reps to remind their classes to encourage more families to use it.
