This is a repeat of the whole school email sent on Thursday afternoon.

This is just a short email to let you know that we have had some major internet issues at school this week. We had a major failure in our main internet switch which required replacement parts to be urgently couriered from Auckland by Network for Learning - who supply a lot of the hardware to schools. Installing the new switch has proved problematic for the technicians. On Monday we originally thought we might be down for a few hours, but that has stretched each day and we are still without internet to the majority of the school this afternoon. Unfortunately today this also affected our phone system for part of the day.

As I write this, from home, there are senior engineers and technicians on site working hard to fix the issues.

However I wanted to let you know as some staff may not have replied to messages this week in as timely a manner as they usually would. As soon as we have more than sporadic bursts of internet they will attend to this, but it may be into next week before you get some replies.

We are just hoping we will be back fully online tomorrow.

Friday update: while most of the school is back in operation with a temporary set up until the problem is completely solved, there are still some outages - particularly affecting the Lower School staff.
