Michaelmas: A Festival of Courage & Light
Rudolf Steiner saw Michaelmas as a festival of inner strength, courage, and transformation —a time when we, like St. Michael, must confront the "dragons" of fear and darkness within ourselves. It is the festival of willpower, calling us to step forward with bravery as the days grow shorter and the outer world moves toward winter.
For children, Michaelmas is a time to celebrate courage—through stories, songs, and games that inspire bravery and resilience. It’s about kindling an inner light to carry through the darker months.
Steiner spoke about the significance of Michaelmas in several lectures, including:
"The Four Seasons and the Archangels"(1923)
"Michaelmas and the Soul Forces of Man"(1923)
