Introducing Emily

Ko Emily tōku ingoa. I whānau au I Ahitereiria. Kei te noho au I Koraunui.

I am a qualified primary and secondary teacher with a masters in TESOL.

I lived and taught in Thailand, Timor Leste, the UK and Australia but am now settled in Wellington with my New Zealand husband and 3 children.

At Raphael House, I am the Special Educational Needs Coordinator, which means I work mostly with the teachers and parents of our neurodiverse students or children who have other needs.

I am constantly learning from these children and feel very lucky to be able to work in this area.

I work two days a week and spend three days at home with my wee boy.

Introducing Fiona

Learning Support

Kia ora

I'm Fiona! I've been at Raphael House now for 6 years. I'm a Learning Support Assistant and work mostly in the Lower School, but I like teenagers too!

I grew up in South Africa and the UK. Before settling in New Zealand in 2003, we enjoyed the freedom of travelling around Africa, Europe, North and South America. In a previous life I worked as a veterinary nurse, however, I now get to immerse myself in the amazing creative environment of RH and join the students on their incredible learning journeys. My favourite thing is to share the joy of words and reading with the children.

Outside of school I enjoy family time, movies, sewing and collecting old textiles. I love all things vintage, although I'm definitely not a hoarder!
