Introducing Barry

Kia ora

I am the Head of Science in the Upper School, teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics to class 8,9,10 and the Chemistry Elective to class 11 & 12. I have been at Raphael House since 2020 and prior to this had been teaching secondary Science in a mix of state, independent, and tertiary schools around London for sixteen years. Originally from Newcastle upon Tyne in the North of England, I come with a Geordie accent and refuse to pronounce “book” correctly.

Having evacuated every previous school I have worked in, due to one explosive experiment or another, Raphael House decided to give me the roles of Civil Defense Liaison Officer and Health & Safety Rep for the Upper School. Currently, I have yet to blow up the Lab here at Raphael House.

I also run ‘Geek Club’ at school where rangatahi can play tabletop games such as Warhammer, Magic the Gathering and Catan, and build and paint miniatures with like-minded enthusiasts.
