Introducing Dorothea

I have been a teacher and music specialist for many years, spanning a work life in South Africa as well as New Zealand.

As some of you know from my introduction when I joined Raphael House in 2019, I spent many years in the African bush and the closeness with nature and special experiences shaped a lot of my work.

Teaching has always been a passion for me and I learnt most from the children and students I have travelled alongside. African children and young people taught me rhythm, heart and honesty and I could build my career on that over the years.

From teacher, to specialist teacher and senior management, I have taken the moments that could grow the young people I work with and myself.

In my journeys in Rudolf Steiner Schools I could add to my experiences.

Over the years I have presented at many conferences here and abroad and I have written musicals in collaboration with children and communities.

These were performed to tell the stories that needed to be told and to fundraise for children whose needs were big.

As music specialist at our school now, I hope to touch some young lives and my other work is also still continuing.
