A note from our Board of Trustees

Darren Fidler —

Kia ora whānau,

With a week in our new buildings, we are keen to ensure good behaviour is set up early. Our school travel plan has focussed on sustainable active modes which is good for both our environment and the health of our children. This has meant the set-up of walking school buses, crossing patrols, and raising neighbour awareness of the number of children around the school at either end of the day. This makes it safer and more pleasant for our children to either walk from home, or walk the last few hundred metres to school if they are being dropped off.

This safety, both to children and other users, is compromised if people pull into the no parking areas around the school, blocking cycle lanes and having rushed movement in and out of the traffic flow. If you are dropping off/picking up your child by car, could you please use the plentiful on and off street parking available a few hundred metres from the school, with children able to walk safely from here. This includes the parking on Celia Street if you would like to see you child into the school directly.

City council parking officers will be monitoring illegal and unsafe parking, but we would hope that it shouldn’t come to this to provide a safe environment for our children and other road users.
