Book Week

Sarah Burt —

We had a great Book Week last week which started with our Annual Book Character Dress Up Parade. Wow! There were some great costumes and it was nice to see so many people dressed up. Thank you for bringing along your books to match your costumes too.

Thank you also to the staff at Redwood Library for bringing us some amazing prizes for the Book Character Parade.

In Paerangi as part of Book Week they were super lucky to have Kieran Read from the Crusaders and Mike King from I Am Hope visit to read them a story and talk to them about feelings.

There were also story chairs, a scavenger hunt, pin the tail on the Lorax and book covers to draw. There was a daily question to answer in the notices with lots of entries and some lucky winners each day.

But that’s not all. On Wednesday at lunchtime children joined 2 million other people joining together for the simultaneous reading of the Speedy Sloth. They watched it read live from the Sydney Zoo.

The preloved book sale on Thursday raised $42 for the library and the library was open after school for people to come and have a look.

We hope you have enjoyed all the Book Week activities. Keep an eye out for Book Week 2024!
