Nick's Notes 7th April
A big thanks to the four children pictured above who noticed some suspicious activity at school over the weekend. This group kept calm and phoned the police to report this - ka mau te wehi (awesome)!
Reddie Values
It is great to know that our tamariki are out in the community showing their Reddie Values of Respect, Responsibility and Relating Well. This week I received an email from a parent who commented on the respect shown by our children opening and holding gates for her and others. It's often the "little things" and common courtesies that can make a difference - especially when they are done consistently!
Without doubt, the current pandemic has impacted on everyone's workload in schools and across other settings and workplaces.
C-19
For your interest, here is a summary of the cases we have to date (07/04/22)
- Current Active Student Cases: 21
- Current Active Staff Cases: 1

- Other Related Absence: 7
- Total (current+historical) Student Cases: 46
- Total (current+historical) Staff Cases: 3
The Board of Trustees meet next week and we will discuss what (if any) changes need to me made for Term 2. Our current settings have helped to minimise widespread infections and disruptions staffing and teaching and learning. Please note that we are still seeing new cases at Redwood on a daily basis. I will update you on any proposed changes going into Term 2.
Year Six Cycle Safety
Next week our Year Six students will take part in the Christchurch City Council's Cycle Safety Programme. Cycling is a great way to get around town and to access some of New Zealand's more remote and scenic areas. This programme helps our children learn the skills and competencies which will enable them to do this safety.
Please follow this link to the notice in case you missed it. Please reach out to Miss Allyce Muir if you have questions about the Cycle Safety Programme.
Holidays
This year, Easter and ANZAC observances both fall inside the school holidays. I hope you manage some quality time with friends and whānau and you enjoy the significance that these days have for you and your families.
We look forward to seeing you all back on Monday 2nd May.
Once again a big thanks to all stakeholders at Redwood Primary School. Our children have managed another "interesting" period of schooling very well, and our staff have continued to work tirelessly to support our children's academic and pastoral needs -THANK YOU, have a great break team!
Ngā mihi nui and stay safe and well!
