On the 6th of August, four of the Redwood School Librarians and the amazing Mrs Matai went to St Margarets College for the New Zealand Book Choice Awards

 Katie W, Olivia T, Sophie M, Alyssa B heard the authors  Sophie Siers, Alison Ballance and Gavin Bishop.

It was an amazing experience. Gavin Bishop is an author and illustrator, he wrote the book Aotearoa he wanted to make it about the history of New Zealand. Instead of it being a normal picture book with 32 page’s the book is 64 pages and double the size as a normal picture book.

Alison Ballance is an author who writes non-fiction books, she wrote the book New Zealand Great White Sharks. She has been out to sea with two men to have a look at tagging sharks so they can identify them and see were they end up swimming to, then the tags end up falling off after around about six years.

Sophie Siers is an Author who writes fiction books. She wrote the book The Gift Horse. The characters in the story, the dad, brother and the main girl are actually her family. It’s a sad story.

It was an amazing experience and we are so pleased we went.
