Enrolment and School Zone Information

Website —

To be entitled to a place at Redwood School the student must reside in the school zone (see below). If you do not live in the zone area then the only way to attend the school would be via a ballot at new entrant level.

Email the office (office@redwoodprimary.school.nz) to ensure your child's name is on our list for 2025.

At the August Board of Trustees Meeting, our School Board resolved to offer approximately 10 Out of Zone spaces throughout 2026 at New Entrant/Year 0 level only.

A ballot will be held each term as follows:

2026

  • For children to enrol in Term 1, 2026 application deadline is Wednesday 15 October 2025

  • For children to enrol in Term 2, 2026 application deadline is Wednesday 11 March 2026

  • For children to enrol in Term 3, 2026 application deadline is Wednesday 27 May 2025

  • For children to enrol in Term 4, 2026 application deadline is Wednesday 19 August 2025

2027

  • For children to enrol in Term 1, 2027 application deadline is Wednesday 14 October 2026

Places cannot be offered in advance as the actual number of places available for each term will change depending on the number of applications received for the current term's ballot

The Board has determined that up to 10 places at New Entrant level are available for 2025.

If the number of out of zone applications exceeds the number of places available, students will be selected by ballot on the Friday following the closing date. Parents will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held.

Applications from out of zone students will be processed in the following order of priority:

First priority: will be given to students who have been accepted for enrolment in an approved special programme. (not applicable at Redwood School)

Second priority: will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students

Third priority: will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students

Fourth priority: will be given to a child of a former student

Fifth priority: will be given to applicants who are children of board employees

Sixth priority: will be given to all other applicants.

In addition to the map below, this link will take you to an interactive enrolment map from the Ministry of Education's Education Counts website (toggle Show Zoning to "on" on the map).
