Canterbury Cross Country

Chris Els —

Five of our students took part in the Primary Canterbury Sports Cross Country at Halswell Quarry on Wednesday 27th June

The weather conditions were perfect for running, but the track itself, was heavy underfoot, with lots of wet and muddy areas making it a real challenge.

All our students can be very proud of their efforts as they gave their very best. Bella W was first up, and she would have gained lots of experience for next year as will Toby G and Austin N, who ran a great race in the year 5 boys.

Nikau N ran in the year 6 boys race. Nikau had an awesome start, getting himself in prime position. This was a hotly contested race, with all the boys running strongly. Nikau held his own for a long stretch of the race, setting himself up for a good finish. Unfortunately he had a bad stitch towards the end slowing him up slightly however, Nikau never gave up and still finished strongly.

Ava R ran in the year 6 girls and had a great start, setting her up for a top ten finish. She followed her race instructions and ran a fantastic race finishing second. She now qualifies to represent Canterbury who will race against Nelson and Wellington in Nelson late term three. Well Done Ava !!
