School Redevelopment

John Stackhouse —

Yes, the planning goes on, BUT there is progress. Our master plan is through for final approval and will be shared with you soon in more detail. The master plan is the plan for how many learning spaces and where they are to be placed

What does our Master Plan tell us so far?

· The Ministry of Education want the school to limit its roll to 350

· Our zone will remain very small even though we have approached the Ministry of Education and strongly pressed them to allow us to increase the zone so local children can attend

· There will be 15 learning spaces

· Of the 15 Learning Spaces, 6 will be new build and 9 will be existing buildings redeveloped, these being Rooms 1-4 and 15-17.

· Room 18 will become the staff room

· Rooms 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 19 and 20 to be removed/demolished

· The library (currently Hoiho Hub) will be retained but the attached resource room will be demolished. Hoiho Hub will revert to being the library

· The admin block will be repaired and upgraded with a new entrance from the car park

· The hall will be re-clad (leaky building) and upgraded

· Rooms 7,8 will be refurbished

· Rooms 5,6 will be retained as Board owned buildings

· Landscaping to be carried out

· Upgrade and replacement of playground equipment

Soon we go into detailed planning and we will be coming to you, as our community, for your input and ideas. We are looking forward to getting our school upgrade after so many years without property funding!
