Damage in the school grounds:

John Stackhouse —

We have had a spate of damage in the school grounds in recent months

This seems to be perpetrated mainly by a group of teenagers who flat locally. This has included smashed bottles a number of times which create great risk of injury to our tamariki. This in particular is simply reckless behaviour where someone does not care what happens to others as a consequence of their actions. It is upsetting that we have people from our local community who are so thoughtless as to put oue children at risk.

The damage over the holidays included broken windows which cost the school hundreds of dollars. We do not get extra funding to cover vandalism, it is paid for out of our annual funding. What we spend on damage repair therefore cannot be spent on our tamariki in other ways.
