Whole School Swimming Programme

Pauline Prescott —

This year being held at QE2 - Monday 20 to Friday 31 August (weeks 5 & 6)

Swimming and water safety is an important and compulsory part of our Physical Education Programme. The aim of our swimming programme at QE2 is to develop students’ swimming, water safety and survival skills. The children will receive a 25-minute session each day in the pool for 10 days under the guidance of qualified swimming instructors. These sessions include swimming lessons and boat and water safety. The children will be ability grouped according to their strengths and needs with approximately 10 children per group. If your child is unable to participate due to medical reasons, please let your classroom teacher know.

We would like some parents to help us with supervising children. This would involve helping children put their gear in the right places, taking children to the toilet and helping children get changed at the end of swimming time. We will need some male adults (fathers, grandfathers, uncles or brothers) to assist us with the boys and their changing in the public changing rooms. Please see your class teacher if you are able to help.

Cost this year is $40.00 per child. Once again the PTA have subsidised the bus cost to keep the price down for parents. We have also used part of the activity to cover the cost of the bus.  Thank you to those parent who have already paid the swimming fee.  You are able to pay by cash or eftpos at the office, or by internet banking (please use your child's name, room and SWIM as references.
