Kidsfirst Kindergarten Visit
On Wednesday the 30th of August, Matua Nick took a group of Poutama tamariki to the Kidsfirst Kindergarten to read to some younger children.
We were working on reading with expression and fluency. After we had read our stories, we had some time to play with the children. We are looking forward to visiting again next term. Here are some of our highlights:
Sejal: I read a book called 'The Roller Blade Run' and then my buddy wanted me to read 'Mrs Wishy Washy'. I remembered when I went to Kidsfirst and how I liked riding on the tricycle, so I had another go on it! It brought back memories!
Lilith: My favourite part was reading 'Jumbo the Elephant'. The kids thought it was funny.
Shakaia: I liked reading to my little buddies and playing with them afterwards.
Xavier: I liked reading to the kids because they enjoyed it - they wanted me to keep reading! I got to drive Lachie around on the tricycle.
Clarissa: I read a School Journal to the little children. I liked this because they were listening to me. I had fun taking the children for rides on the bike.
Aryan: I read ‘There’s no place like Space’ to my little buddies. They wanted me to give them rides on the tricycle.
Charlie: I liked reading 'White Water Rafting' and 'Action' to the little kids because they thought it was funny and they were laughing! I enjoyed teaching them how to catch the little balls.
Violet: I enjoyed playing with the little kids and helping them on the slides.
Niko: I read 'Tad the tadpole' to my buddy. I made a couple of new friends. When it was time to leave they didn’t want me to go!
Yuito: I enjoyed reading the picture book 'Giraffes Can’t Dance'. I liked taking the little children around on the bikes.
