Welcome Back & Construction Update

Nick Gunn —

I hope you managed some downtime with whānau over the school holidays! We are ready to welcome everyone back on Monday morning and our school is looking better than ever following recent construction work.

Hats

Now is a great time to dig out those school hats and avoid that last minute Monday morning scramble! A green wide brimmed hat is a compulsory part of our school uniform in Terms 1 and 4. This is all about keeping safe in the sun. Please consider applying sunscreen for your child in the morning also.

Missing Seating

We are having trouble locating the blue seats that belong with the sets that Francis created recently. Have you seen these? It is just the blue ones which seem to be missing. Please reach out if you can help us with their return.

Construction Update

Over the holidays our contractors were busy completing projects funded through the Ministry of Education's School Investment Package

The projects completed included curbing to the carpark, improved inclusive access to the school hall, a new fence to isolate the library area from the caretaker storage area, and the repair of the sandpit shade structure. These projects were completed by Mike Dear and his team at Summit Construction

Please note the timber handrail is temporary - we are waiting for the steel rail to be fabricated!

Meanwhile Glen at Hutch Contracting and Tim at Outside the Box Solutions worked in collaboration to dig out and replace the bark in the Junior Playground, create garden areas using rock boundaries around the hall and in the memorial garden and build a network of paths in the area where the staff room was. We are finalising a planting plan to develop this area into an interactive native garden. Our very own Francis Jackson worked alongside Tim and Glen to support with these projects.

A big thanks to Tim, Glen, Mike and their teams as well as Francis. We are really happy with the results achieved. Thanks also to Jaimie at GardenBox for supplying materials, advice and logistics - your support and guidance made these projects much easier to manage.

Thanks also to Sarah Caldwell (Board of Trustees) for her on going work supporting the school to deliver these property projects.

Term 4

We are looking forward to an exciting summer term at Redwood Primary School. Term 4 is always busy with a range of events and celebrations to mark the end of the school year. Please keep up to date with upcoming events through our usual channels.
