Board of Trustees update

Emma Norrish —

At Redwood School we aim to give our tamariki a wide range of experiences and learning opportunities, both inside and outside the classroom.

We know how valuable experiences such as camps, field trips and swimming are in enabling our students to thrive and grow into well-rounded young people. However, recent changes from the Ministry of Education have meant that we may not be able to continue to offer as many of these experiences for our tamariki. In order to try and offset some of this, we as a Board have decided that it is necessary to increase the amount we ask you for each year as a contribution towards these activities. From 2020 the amount for a single child will increase from $100 to $120, and a family with more than one student will increase from $150 to $180.

Board members have been working hard on the final plans for the school redevelopment, and it is great to see the project finally gaining positive momentum and moving forward. The building work will be going out for tender in January 2020, with work starting in the months following that.

With the end of the year fast approaching, we would like to take time to thank staff and the wider school community, including the PTA and other volunteers, for another great year at Redwood. We wish everyone a merry Christmas and happy holidays, and look forward to what will be an exciting 2020 at Redwood School.
