Board News
As we head into spring, the Board has been continuing to work with the Ministry of Education and our assigned architects to get the school rebuild / repair to the next stage.
We held community consultations at the beginning of the term, and thank all those parents who took the time to attend. We will continue with community engagement events and encourage all school whanau to be involved as we create a new Redwood School - one fit for the 21st Century.
The whole school is getting ready for our Art Exhibition. Tamariki have begun working on their creations and the staff and PTA are well into planning for this event. It's a great opportunity for our whole community to come together and celebrate the creativity in our school. It's also a fundraiser, with raffles and an art auction, proceeds of which will go towards the new school playground. If you have items to donate, either for the auction or raffles, please contact the office.
The Education Review Office has published their final report for our school. This was a very positive result and again we thank the staff and leadership team for their input during the ERO visit. The final report is available for viewing in the office, and on our school website.
We have some staff leaving us at the end of term. We wish farewell to Chris Els, who is leaving at the end of this term to take up a Principal position at Pukerua Bay School. We congratulate him on taking the next step in his teaching and leadership career.
We also farewell Gabe McIntyre at the end of term as she moves to work full time with her husband at their restaurant and bar, and wish them all the best in their hospitality business.
We also bid farewell to Ana Connor who has served on the BoT since 2012, including two stints as Board Chair. Ana is resigning from the board due to her work commitments, which will see her travelling out of Christchurch a lot over the next few months. Thanks to Ana for her longstanding commitment and service to the school. The Board will be seeking to co-opt a new member prior to the next scheduled election in 2019.
