Proposed Redwood School enrolment zone amendment, boundary changes
The Redwood School Board of Trustees is contacting neighbouring schools and other key stakeholders as part of a consultation process, as required through the Education Act 1989, regarding proposed boundary changes to the Redwood School enrolment zone.
Dear Redwood School Parents/Whanau,
We ask for your response to the following proposed Redwood School enrolment zone boundaries. The school wants to ensure that our parents/whanau are kept fully informed. These proposed changes do not adversely affect or exclude any current or future enrolments at Redwood School.
Rationale for change of boundary:
In discussion with the Ministry of Education application was made by Redwood School to the Secretary for Education to expand its current enrolment zone. This is in response to residential land development to the east of the current enrolment zone boundary not being included in any current school zone.
The proposed amendments are designed to:
- Incorporate current unzoned land to the east of Redwood School into the Redwood School enrolment zone
- To rationalise the proposed Redwood School enrolment zone eastern boundary with that of the existing Papanui Primary School enrolment zone eastern boundary, by aligning them along the western side of Watters Road
- To overlap Marshland School’s current enrolment zone western boundary to allow alignment with the current Papanui Primary School enrolment zone eastern boundary at Watters Road and then along the western side of Quaids Road to the Styx River
- Retain current northern, western and southern boundaries unchanged thus not impacting catchments/enrolment zones for Papanui Primary, Northcote and Belfast Schools
These changes have been proposed by the Redwood School Board of Trustees to rationalise Redwood School’s enrolment zone to the east, as requested by the ministry of Education during discussion through 2019.
The proposed change to the Redwood School enrolment zone also corresponds with the school’s rebuild/redevelopment in 2020-22. The zone will be managed to dovetail with the proposed Ministry of Education Redwood School rebuild roll capacity and their planning for future capacity. The proposed changes incorporate parcels of land to the east of Redwood School consistent with the Ministry of Education’s capacity and growth predictions for Redwood School’s future roll.
