What's happing in our community?

Yeah! Girls cricket hubs run by Canterbury Cricket this term, designed for any girls aged 8-16, regardless of sporting ability. The focus is on learning new skills and having fun with friends. See attached flyer.

Canvas Bag Drama School — Merivale Campus - commences for Term 1 on Monday 10 February. Age ranked classes for 5 - 15 years. Marrzipan Drama Classes - Is your child shy? Do they feel intimidated by the idea of public speaking and performance? Do they sometimes find it difficult to make eye contact? Do they just need 45 minutes a week to take part in organised craziness?! Come and join Marrzipan! We run awesome drama classes which focus on key life skills before school on Fridays! We play fun engaging games and perform at the end of term once to parents and once to the school. All scripts are original, engaging, educational and HILARIOUS. All parents receive weekly class reports too to keep them up to date on their child’s development. Summer in the Styx – Sunday 16 February 2020, 11am-3pm. This is a free event at 303 Radcliffe Road. Have a fun day in the sun whilst exploring one of Christchurch's brand-new Regional Parks with the Styx Living Laboratory Trust. There will be kayaking, guided walks, bird and water monitoring, planting, scavenger hunt, weaving and much more. Papanui Plunket International Mothers Coffee Group – Monday's, 10.45am-12.30pm

Come along and enjoy the company of other parents from our community in a safe and welcoming environment, on Mondays at 24 Bellvue Avenue in Papanui. We offer information on anything from consumer rights, to family issues, to tenancy and flatting problems, so there's never a dull moment. Revel Events, Sandeep Khanna-Loan Market and Christchurch Multicultural Council are excited to bring Holi back to Christchurch on Saturday 29 February. We would like to invite you to join in the fun from 10am - 4pm at North Hagley Park, Events Village. Holi has always aimed to promote unity in Christchurch and is built on the traditional themes of forgiveness and togetherness. The event provides a welcoming and inclusive space to come together as one city and celebrate the many different people that call Ōtautahi home.

Holi 2020 will focus on building understanding of different cultures in Christchurch through showcasing traditional performances, food, games and stories. Holi is a day to forget worries and connect with family and friends. Come along and throw colours, dance, and enjoy DJs, traditional Indian games, cultural performances and festive Holi delicacies. StarJam www.starjam.org, has been running music based workshops in Christchurch for the last 6 years for young people with disabilities and have helped many thousands of young people (6 -25) who live with a disability to find confidence and self-esteem, friendship and respect, and to reach their true potential. We have vacancies in our dance, singing, drumming and instrumental workshops and we are keen to have more young people (‘Jammers’) and their families get involved. The Salvation Army Christchurch North base at the Belfast Centre will be running monthly events for young people within the Christchurch North Community. February's event - a movie night this Friday 14th of February for families during Valentines Day.  Everyone can enjoy popcorn and snacks provided
