BOT news for this term

Ana Connor —

Education Review Office and Staffing

Education Review Office ReportEarlier this term the school hosted three reviewers from the Education Review Office. This is a regular review cycle, where all schools and ECE providers are reviewed to asses how well we are meeting our community needs and the education aspirations for all children in New Zealand. The leadership team and staff worked extremely hard to prepare for this visit. We were able to showcase the journey we have been on since the last review, across many aspects of Redwood School, including our revised Reddie Learner Values, the Reddie Way (PB4L), and the achievement of our tamariki for equity and excellence. The Review team were impressed by the deeply embedded knowledge of the teachers, leaders and children about how we work at Redwood School. They identified the following strengths in our approach:

the positive school-wide learning environment

  • the shared responsibility for children's learning and wellbeing
  • the focus on bicultural understanding and practice
  • the strong culture of collaboration amongst all the staff

The Board would like to thank all the staff and students who took great pride in showing ERO that Redwood School is a place where we have a heart for all of our tamariki and their learning.

Teacher Appointments

Sadly Ashley Pierce is leaving us for her OE at the end of this term.

We  welcome Kirsty Fletcher to the teaching staff on a fixed term appointment in Hoiho Hub. Kirsty is familiar with Redwood School as she is a parent in our school community.

Replacing Ashley as a permanent teacher is Sarah Burt.  As a Board we already know Sarah well, as she has been our Staff representative on the BOT this year. Congratulations to you both on your appointments.
