We are excited to share that we have appointed Candice Weir to the position of permanent kaiako (teacher) at Redwood Primary School for 2023.
We met with some strong candidates and we are really confident that Candice is a great fit at our kura. Candice is a beginning teacher who has had a career and family before going into her teacher training. Candice will join Kate Norman and Charlotte Spencer in the Poutama Team. Kirsty Fletcher will move to the Paerangi Team next year.
Candice graduated with a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning (Primary) from the University of Canterbury in 2022. A new graduate with a mature head, Candice came to education after spending some time at home raising her two boys and a career in administration management both in New Zealand and Canada.
Candice is married to Matt, and together they have Blake, Connor, and a Golden Retriever called Chevy. In her spare time, you’ll find Candice out with her family on their mountain bikes, at the beach walking the dog or wrapped up in a good book with a cup of coffee.
We are looking forward to getting to know and working with Candice next year. We are arranging some times for her to visit us between now and the end of the year.
