Kayleigh competed at the New Zealand Irish Dancing Nationals in October 2017.  This was the first year where she was able to qualify for the World Championships to be held in Glasgow in March 2018.  Kayleigh qualified as she won her age group (top 5 from this age group up qualify). The Traditional Irish Dancing Association of New Zealand award a scholarship to a champion dancer who is selected by the international adjudicators and Kayleigh was the recipient in 2017.  This scholarship has helped Kayleigh reach her goal of competing at a World Championship. The Worlds start on 24 March and end on 1 April. Kayleigh competes on 24 March. She is also competing in a competition on 18 March in Galway, Ireland. A lot of the summer break was spent having lessons to prepare Kayleigh for the World Championship.
