Parent Survey feedback… Redwood School: What do you think?

John Stackhouse —

At the end of last year your survey feedback told us:

· 77% of parents felt National Standards data was not very helpful in reporting

· Written reports and face-to-face conferences were best for reporting/feedback

· Most important in reporting was how your child had improved, next steps in learning and a chance in parent/teacher/child conferences for parents to speak without the child present

· Wider reporting across the curriculum and how children work/play with others is important

· Over 90% of parents regularly read the newsletter

· 84% said Redwood School was welcoming or very welcoming

· 76% said teachers were easy to get in touch with

· The website was seen as only moderately useful for information

· 100% saw our school values as important or very important

· 88% said that values teaching was evident or very evident at Redwood School

· 95% saw our school values as having a significant effect on our tamariki

A couple of responses to parent feedback…

· To improve communication further we have a Redwood School phone app which alerts you to school updates, notices, events

· Reporting to parents will be modified this year to include a time for chat just between teacher and parents/whanau and reporting will give better coverage of the wider curriculum and there will be a move away from National Standards

· The school has a major focus this year on the regular teaching of school values and their reinforcement through the day
