The librarians went to the Books Alive event at St Margaret’s College

We learnt that:

Gavin Bishop

- Has published 70 picture books which have been translated into 12 languages

- His latest book is called “Cook’s Cook” about the one-armed cook who travelled on the Endeavour with Captain James Cook

- He did lots of research about Captain Cook and it took him about a year to write and illustrate

Steph Makatu

- Wrote 2 books in one year

- Her favourite characters in her book “Whetu toa and the Magician” are the lazy pigs

- Had her first book published at age 43 so she recommended you keep on writing and trying to get a book made

Josh Morgan

- Is an illustrator who illustrated the book “The Bomb” which his partner wrote

- Wrote and played his song which accompanies the book

- Built a model Lego diving tower before he drew one

Our librarians leaders, Brooke and Nikea, got our library copy of two of books signed by Gavin and Josh.
