DCC supports University graduation parades
In partnership with the University of Otago, the Dunedin City Council was proud to support the coordination of three graduation parades in May.
Restrictions imposed because of the COVID-19 pandemic have hampered Otago’s ability to host the traditional Dunedin graduation ceremonies in recent times, so it was fantastic to see the return of parades and ceremonies over three consecutive Saturdays in May.
Due to the partial closure of George St on the Farmers Block for the Retail Quarter upgrade, the DCC worked alongside the University of Otago to create an alternate parade route to the Dunedin Town Hall this year.
The graduation parades and ceremonies are important for Dunedin as an education city. Graduands and their supporters experience our warm hospitality, tourism attractions, and share their positive experiences with others. It was great to be able to host many whānau and friends to celebrate the students’ achievements!
