What To Do If Your Child Is Absent From School

Rewa Rewa Office —

  1. Submit an absence notification on Hero before 9am every day your child is absent - this is a key responsibility of every parent & caregiver. This is the same as booking leave from work or letting your boss know you won't be at work when you are sick.  If you are wanting to let us know of an absence in advance, please email office@rewarewa.school.nz and we can enter that for you.  If you telephone and your call is not answered, it means that we are already busy, so please leave a message (you will need to let it ring for approximately 30 seconds to get voicemail).  It is not helpful to call repeatedly instead.

If your child is absent and we have not heard from a parent or caregiver, we will contact you to find out where they are.

  2. If your child arrives at school after 9am, they must go straight to the Office to sign-in, otherwise they will show on the roll as absent and you will be contacted.

  3. If your child has any vomiting or diarrhoea, it is important to tell us!  You must keep your child away from school for 48 hours following the last episode to help prevent the spread of illness.  We currently have a student for whom vomiting and diarrhoea has severe implications and will require hospitalisation. We need to alert families of vulnerable students if there is vomiting and diarrhoea at school.

We have an amazing community at Rewa Rewa School and we value working in partnership with you to keep our kids safe and well!
