Whare news from Atatū, Uranga, Whaiao & Kōtuhi

RHS Kaiarataki —

The Riccarton Way is the spirit, the wairua that underpins the way we think, act and feel about ourselves, others at the school and those in our local and international community.

By emphasising the key values of commitment, honesty, respect and excellence, the school ultimately promotes a caring, supportive learning culture focused on progress and achievement. Each month we will have information and updates from our 4 whare: Atatū, Whaiao, Kōtuhi and Uranga.

Atatū Whare News:

The Atatū whare is ready for a new year and (touch wood) are looking forward to getting back into the full swing of things without any interruptions to our year.

We would like to congratulate the following Whare Leaders for securing Leadership roles within our whare.

Sihyun Baek and Lavinia 'Atuekaho are our Manukura for 2023. They will be supported by Tyler Forster, Daniel Liu and Hayley Ellmers as our Tuakana for this year.

A massive well done to these 5 people, who showed their commitment to upholding The Riccarton Way value of Excellence by putting their names forward for these roles.

Uranga Whare News:

Uranga are super excited for the year ahead.

We would like to congratulate the following Whare Leaders for securing leadership roles within our whare.

Addison Jones and Hamish Barclay are our Manukura for 2023. They will be supported by Emilia King, Jordan Alexander, Jorgia Steeman, and Ashmita Rawat as our Tuākana for this year.

Ka pai to these amazing young people - who showed their commitment to upholding The Riccarton Way value of Excellence in putting their names forward for these roles.

They organised a great event for Big Arvo and we are all looking forward to the year ahead.

Whaiao Whare News:

There are a lot of new people in our Whaiao whare this year.

Our new Kaitiaki is Mrs Tara Bell and our new Kaiarataki is Mrs Carmen Kenton.

We had so much fun at Big Arvo on Friday and our whare event of tug o' war was organised by our newly appointed student leaders. Our Manukura student leaders are Loseli Vea'ila and Bhavil Patel, and our Tuākana are Manisha Munro, Lily Davies, Tanika Nolan, and Christina Belford. It was great to see them working together to get the event organised. They are definitely worthy of their selection as leaders in our kura.

Whaiao whare tug of war.

Kōtuhi Whare News:

Kōtuhi has started the year strong and with our purple gear on!

Congratulations to the following Kōtuhi students who will be our whare leaders this year: Isaac Weir (KMI) and Aashma Goldfarb (KDT) are our Manukura and supporting them as Tuakana are Mackenzie Ngahere (KJS) and Leah Williams (KCB). They have already done some outstanding work leading our Kōtuhi Quiz as part of Big Arvo, with many more exciting things to come!

Applications for our Kōtuhi Council are open now and close Wednesday the 1st of March. We would love to see lots of applications from every year level for people keen to help make our whare thrive.
