Riccarton entered two teams in the regional NZYPT (New Zealand Young Physicist Tournament) competition this year. 

From a total of nine teams competing, the Riccarton B team, consisting of Leo Shin (12CS), Sam Gamble (12CB) and Matthew Woermann (12HB) achieved second place. The team really benefited from their past experience in the Junior competition (JYPT), which they competed in last October. The other team of Rachel Wu (13NM), Imas Neupane (13WI) and Zemirah Koiki (12NP), achieved a commendable 5th place.

The Riccarton B team will now compete in the national competition, which is being held in Auckland on Saturday 19 March, and will be up against stiff competition from schools such as Onslow College, Wellington High School and Auckland Grammar.
