2022 Leadership Camp

Scarlet Wright & Liam Rooney —

This years 2022 Leadership Camp was held at the end of the summer holidays at our school lodge, Orohaki. Throughout this camp, the Executive Committee and Tūakana learnt valuable and beneficial skills, preparing them to lead our kura, Riccarton High School, in 2022. While on this camp, the Kaihautū were assigned their specific committee’s that they will take charge of this year.

During the first day, the main focus was on each individual and their vision of how they would like to improve the school. Our Kaihautū learnt the foundations for being a strong, confident leader, helping us prepare to be successful leaders in 2022.

On the second day, the Tūakana joined us at Orohaki and we split into two groups. The two groups, Manukura and Tūakana, met with their Kaiarataki and planned whare events as well as further developing their understanding and skills around leadership. Whilst this was happening, the rest of the Executive was working with Ms Heald on our committee projects for 2022.

Over the course of the camp everyone had a great time and it was really valuable in building our leadership skills. We are all excited to take on our leadership roles this year!
