Riccarton High School student, Laura Wu 10NS, recently placed first equal in the Every Story Tells a Picture art competition.

This annual competition is run by the school librarian in conjunction with the Christchurch City Libraries and is open to all high school students in Christchurch.

There were 40 entries in two categories: 2D and photography.

Students used a book or piece of writing as their inspiration. Laura’s painting is based on the graphic novel American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang.

The judges said of Laura’s work: “Originality shines through. Well worked up. Shows great drawing potential and good composition and colour skills”.

Well done Laura.
