After what seemed like forever, we have finally welcomed our first new cohort of international students since January 2020! Ten new international students from around the world have joined us this term - it feels like international education is getting back on track.

To mark the special occasion, Christchurch NZ put on a Canterbury-wide civic welcome event last week for over 150 new international high school students at Ara. It was wonderful seeing all the students en masse, plus one student from each school got to meet the mayor. Our school was represented by Yui Maehara, as pictured here, (spot the RHS uniform next to Leanne Dalziel).

As per usual, we are looking for new host families to accommodate our growing student numbers. If you live within a short bus ride from school and English is the first language spoken at home, then please flick us an email to enquire: isd@riccarton.school.nz . It’s a great way to “internationalise” your family and earn some extra cash while doing so!
