Orana Park Field Trip

Remco Baars —

On Sunday 14 and Monday 15 May, the 3Bio classes were out at Orana Park collecting data for their investigations into animal behaviour patterns.

We were extremely lucky with the weather, as it was sunny and dry, albeit a little cold.

The animals studied include meerkats, kea, emu, Tasmainain devils, springbok, rhinoceros, bison, giraffes, cheetah and gibbons.

One of the surprising findings was the amount of time that is spent grazing (herbivores) and resting (herbivores and carnivores).

At the moment, the data is being analysed and will form the results for the final report for this assessment task.

It was also really nice to see some of our ex-students working there as volunteers, using what they have learnt at school to be of service.
