Keeping warm this winter

Rebecca Nicholson —

With winter now here, we thought it was a good time to outline what students can do to keep themselves warm in the colder weather.

The school has extra options to help you stay warm:

  • Trousers - they can be worn by anyone
  • Skirts can be worn with navy blue or black tights
  • Long sleeve shirts are also available.

It’s important to layer up with the school uniform jerseys or cardigans, blazers and jackets as well (the air between all the different layers helps keep us warm).

For extra warmth:

  • A thermal, polyprop or similar item can be worn underneath the shirts so long as it cannot be seen outside of or underneath the shirt (a white or light colour is preferable for these).
  • We sell school scarves (at the main office) - we are currently waiting on an order due mid to late June.
  • A plain navy blue or black beanie is also able to be worn.
  • And when it’s raining, on top of the school jacket, an umbrella can also be used to keep dry.

All uniform is available from NZ Uniforms (455 Blenheim Road) or online https://riccarton.nzuniforms.com/.

The PTA also sells secondhand uniform on behalf of parents/caregivers. They are holding a sale on Wednesday 30th June at 3.15pm. At other times, you can contact the main school office to make a time to come in and see what’s in stock (phone 348 5073 or email recptn@riccarton.school.nz).
