STP - Secondary Tertiary Partnership

Jo Gordon —

A unique opportunity to prepare you to join the workforce. Working with Ara, National Trade Academy, SIT and other tertiary providers, this course enables you to complete pre-trade courses that prepare you for work, apprenticeships or full time study while still at school.

STP in 2016 has been filled with action. As students spend Thursday and Friday off site on their courses, Monday - Wednesday is busy, with students working on unit standards that will help to prepare them for adult life. These standards include writing CVs, taxation and learning to be assertive.

Our school motto is Learn to be of Service. In between standards students also complete a service component to the course. This year we held a bake sale, sold chocolate, bacon and bacon butties at school to raise money for Ronald MacDonald House. We were able to purchase many household items for them, including duvets, cutlery, mattress protectors, frying pans and a grocery voucher. The class was able to deliver these items and cooked lunch for the guests at Ronald MacDonald House after a tour of the facility.

To balance out all of this hard work, students have been completing field trips that challenge their boundaries including:

The Amazing Race Hanmer. walking up the Bridle Path, Adrenalin Forest, Skiing at Porters, the nutritious breakfast challenge, climbing at the Roxx, Mega Air, ice skating and treasure hunts.

Students have been really positive in their endeavours and most have achieved all of their goals for 2016. Well done to all of the STP team for a great year.
